Announcing the new eResource Series Using Regulations to Reject & Replace Institution with Home and Normal Life.

This series begins with the first eResource GUARDIANS OF NORMAL LIFE:
How Activity/Recreational/Engagement/Community Life Professionals
can Save the World of LTC. Although this first eResource is written with this role in mind, it applies to everyone and more are to come.

Living in a LTC home can be terrific. We have three decades of proof of it. Sadly, many are unaware of the simple practices that can be implemented in LTC homes that truly change culture. You can change institutional culture inside any building.

We all must shift how we look at nursing homes and assisted livings. They are HOME to the beautiful people who live there more than our professional workplaces. After a pandemic I see more people wearing lab coats than ever before and referring to these beautiful people as patients which proves the point.

You and I are walking into someone else’s home, someone else’s house. Home, not homelike. Home, not facility. Community, not post acute. Where people live, not a care center.

Let’s keep the HOME in nursing home and the LIVING in assisted living.

And the best news? Non-institutional practices can be implemented LEANING ON REGULATIONS!

Regulations do not hold us back, they lead the way. Many people do not know this.

Help me please to get this message out.

Consider joining the army of guardians of normal life whoever you are, whatever your role. Please consider subscribing to this blog for ongoing encouragements. Also by subscribing we want to thank you with a $10.00 discount if you are interested in checking out GUARDIANS OF NORMAL LIFE in our store as of today – my 58th birthday …. At first, I typed only that is it my birthday… but I’m trying to live up to speaking well of aging, not disparagingly. If we in the field speak poorly of aging, who will speak positively? So I added my age. \”/
